# Fantastic Masquerading Furnishings A Series of Hybrid Sculptural Seating Assumes Everyday Objects By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-01-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybrid-sculptural-seating References: [fubiz.net](http://www.fubiz.net/en/2015/01/19/hybrid-objects-series/) & [behance.net](https://www.behance.net/gallery/5511273/Creative-Chair-Concept) While some designers strive to produce the [perfect ergonomic chair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/himalaya-pelvis-chair), this collection of [hybrid sculptural seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immaterial-0001) demonstrates a very different priority. Haris Jusovic has rendered some incredibly [unique pieces of furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bells-whistles) that could realistically be comfortable, but the most distinctive aspects of the designs are that these loungers look like other things. Observe a cozy armchair of black leather that appears to have been hollowed out from a giant rotary telephone; meanwhile, a butterfly looks to open its wings, providing a pretty perch on four legs. A cracked eggshell with its yolk beneath, and a swoosh of melted chocolate bar both assume the forms of single support chairs. The Hybrid Objects Series brings utility, art and amusement into the domain of furniture design, challenging contemporaries to do the same. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.7/10 - Popularity: 99% | Activity: 93% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Sculptural Seating:** Designers are creating hybrid sculptural seating that resembles everyday objects, challenging traditional furniture design. - **Functional Art:** Furniture is being transformed into functional art pieces that serve both as practical seating and aesthetic decor. - **Playful Design:** Designers are exploring playful and whimsical elements in furniture design, merging utility and amusement. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** The furniture industry has an opportunity to create unique and innovative seating pieces that blur the lines between art and function. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate sculptural seating into their projects to add a touch of creativity and uniqueness to spaces. - **Art and Design Galleries:** Art and design galleries can showcase hybrid sculptural seating as a form of functional art, appealing to collectors and art enthusiasts. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Artfully Balanced Chair Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halfway-serious.md) - [Sculptural Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archetypes.md) - [Unexpected Boundary-Pushing Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atypical-chair.md) - [Waste-Incorporated Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-chairs.md) - [Oblong Color-Blocked Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meritalia-morphologica-collection.md) - [Reimagined Monolithic Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fossil-furniture.md) - [Rope-Like Dynamic Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caterpillar-lounge.md) - [Dynamic Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tom-dixon-fat-and-plump.md) - [Modern Design-Exploring Art Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pratone-chair.md)
