The gas guzzling Hummer [SUV](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jeep-suv) was based on Humvee military vehicles and went into consumer production in 1992. Sales in 2009 were down 67 percent from 2008. Hummer is the third brand shutdown that is the result of GM’s bankruptcy reorganization.
