In her ‘Drift’ series, DiDonato explores what we all try to hide and shares it with the world in her surreal human emotion photo series. The photographer started working on the series while she was interning as a photojournalist for the Lexington Herald-Leader in Kentucky. She wanted to promote awareness of the feelings people go through but chose to hide. “People identify with pictures. If you can bundle an important concept into an aesthetically appealing image, you can break barriers that words can’t,” says the talented photographer. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 40% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Life](https://www.trendhunter.com/life) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Emotionally Charged Photography:** Opportunity for photographers to use their skills to raise awareness about important issues by capturing the emotional essence of a message through their photographs. - **Breaking Barriers Through Visual Storytelling:** Innovative way to overcome communication barriers by using photographs as a means of conveying important messages without the need for words. - **Surrealistic Depiction of the Human Psyche:** Potential for artists to use abstract concepts and surrealistic visuals to creatively represent the complexities of the human psyche. ### Who This Affects Most - **Photography Industry:** Opportunities for photographers to develop their skills and use their creative talents to convey important messages through their work. - **Mental Health Industry:** Opportunities for mental health practitioners to incorporate emotionally charged photography into their practice as a way of promoting awareness about mental health issues. - **Art Industry:** Opportunities for artists to use photography as a medium to creatively express psychological and emotional concepts in a visually compelling way. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [Mental Health-Supporting Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-last-photo.md) - [Emotional Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miror-collection.md) - [Human Embraced-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallmounted-sculpture.md) - [Perception-Challenging Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/becoming-familiar.md) - [Paper Curvature Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-curves.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Human Nature-Themed Art Galleries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sea-im-awake.md) - [Blurry Abstract Photography Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-allusion.md)
