# Lush Garden-Topped Houses The 'Hugging House' Blends into the Surrounding Forest By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2021-10-08 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hugging-house References: [yankodesign](https://www.yankodesign.com/2021/10/07/this-modern-eco-home-features-a-garden-roof-and-integrates-the-surrounding-forest-into-its-design/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+yankodesign+%28Yanko+Design+-+Form+Beyond+Function%29) & [arquitecturaveliz](https://arquitecturaveliz.com/) The 'Hugging [House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nirvana-house)' has been conceptually designed by Veliz Arquitecto as a home within a [lush tropical forest environment](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kw-house) that would work to provide premium amenities for inhabitants and much more. The home maintains an ultra-modern construction that has a bi-level, cantilevered design and helps to merge itself into the surrounding landscape thanks to a series of gardens on the roof. This provides the dwelling with a way to incorporate natural elements into the construction, while also extending this same ethos to the inside space with rock surfaces and ample greenery. The 'Hugging House' was commented on by Veliz Arquitectos who said, "We have taken advantage of the [slopes of the land](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-the-slope) in order to create visual connections at different heights with the existing vegetation and beyond the landscape, as well as [used] the premises with which we always try to characterize the project.” ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.8/10 - Popularity: 99% | Activity: 96% | Freshness: 10% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) > [Eco Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/ecoarchitecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Green Roof Homes:** Homes with garden-topped roofs merge into the surrounding landscape and incorporate natural elements. - **Bi-level Cantilevered Design:** Homes designed with bi-level cantilevered structures create visual interest and allow for unique design features. - **Natural Elements Incorporated Into Home:** Homes that incorporate natural elements such as rock surfaces and greenery into their interior design create a unique and calming living space. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Architects and builders can incorporate green roofs and bi-level cantilevered designs to create unique and visually striking homes. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can experiment with incorporating natural elements into home decor to create a calming and organic living space. - **Sustainability:** Sustainability experts can promote the use of green roofs and natural elements in homes to reduce carbon footprints and promote eco-friendliness. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Living Landscape Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hedge-and-arbour-house.md) - [Tranquil Argentinian Forest Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-house-1.md) - [Landscape-Integrated Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-by-the-grove.md) - [Green Garden-Surrounding Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hillside-house-1.md) - [Forest Edge House Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-guapuruvu.md) - [Terraced Garden-Surrounded Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lechuza-house.md) - [Garden-Connected Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-waverley-house.md) - [Immersive Forest-Surrounded Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kw-house.md) - [Gabled Forest-Side Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frame-house-1.md)
