The entirely wooden house took about one year to complete and amounts to 780 total square feet. The wood, windows and furniture were all created by Jay himself and he used old pieces of existing material. For example, he used old windows from demolished construction sites and built wooden furniture from discarded pieces of timber. The upcycled treehouse is a play area for his grandchildren but it can also act as a suitable abode for adults. The huge treehouse is large enough to comfortably fit adults and it provides a beautiful panoramic view of the fields and forested area below. This house is an interesting idea for architectures to consider as cities expand. As urbanization continues to grow into rural areas, the idea to [build upward instead of outward](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sky-house-1) is a creative space-saver. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Upcycled Treehouses:** The use of discarded materials to create unique and eco-friendly treehouse structures. - **Multifunctional Play Spaces:** Designing treehouses that serve as both play areas for children and suitable living spaces for adults. - **Vertical Urbanization:** Exploring the concept of building upwards as cities expand and space becomes limited. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Sustainable Construction:** Opportunities for construction companies to incorporate eco-friendly practices and upcycled materials in their projects. - **Real Estate:** Developing innovative and versatile housing solutions that make the most of limited space in urban areas. - **Architecture:** Creating unique and space-saving designs for treehouses and other vertical structures. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Contemporary Conservationist Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sylvascope-treehouse.md) - [Repurposed Wooden Shoreside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-house-by-the-lake.md) - [Tree-Surrounding Mass-Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-courtyard-house.md) - [Six-Person Dual-Loft Tiny Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treehab-tiny-homes-banksia.md) - [Solar Powered Luxe Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-baltic.md) - [Treehouse Writing Studios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casetta-tessino.md) - [Cartoonish Tubular Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tubular-treehouse.md) - [Olive Tree-Centric Wooden Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twentieth-house.md) - [Nature-Immersive Tranquil Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treehouse-villas.md)
