Heads-up displays offer the advantage of allowing drivers to look at the speedometer or check their phones without averting their eyes from the windshield. But at the same time, displaying too much data on a heads-up display can reduce driver safety. This is where the Hudway Glass comes in, with its features and simplicity allowing it to maintain a healthy balance. The device is a simply smartphone cradle with a [transparent plastic lens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/visual-instruments-phantom) that reflects and optically enhances data displayed by your phone. Users can select apps that provide data like speed, location and navigation and have them projected on their heads-up displays. Heads-up displays are exciting but can be a distraction if over-used, and this is where the Hudway Glass' fine balance comes in, while the fact that it is quite affordable -- available for a $49 pledge on [Kickstarter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/looking-glass-go) -- makes it even more appealing. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 78% | Activity: 94% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Affordable Heads-up Displays:** The trend of affordable heads-up displays presents an opportunity for companies to create innovative, low-cost solutions for drivers. - **Maintaining a Healthy Balance:** The trend of maintaining a healthy balance in heads-up displays creates opportunities for designers to find the perfect balance between displaying important information and avoiding distractions. - **Optical Enhancement Technology:** The trend of using optical enhancement technology in heads-up displays opens up possibilities for companies to develop new ways to enhance visibility and improve the user experience. ### Who This Affects Most - **Automotive:** Affordable heads-up displays provide an opportunity for automotive companies to incorporate this technology into their vehicles and enhance the driving experience. - **Mobile Technology:** The affordable heads-up display trend offers opportunities for mobile technology companies to develop new apps and features specifically designed for heads-up displays. - **Crowdfunding:** The rise of affordable heads-up displays creates an opportunity for crowdfunding platforms to support and promote innovative projects like the Hudway Glass. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Immersive AR Automotive HUDs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/harman-ready-vision-augmented-reality.md) - [Augmented Reality Motorcyclist Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shoei-eyelights-gtair-3-smart.md) - [Connected Motorcycle Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shoei-opticson-smart-motorcycle-helmet.md) - [Real-Time Performance-Tracking Eyewear Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-eyewear1.md) - [Connected Snow Sport Goggles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rekkie-smart-snow-goggles.md) - [HUD-Equipped Smart Cyclist Glasses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cosmo-vision.md) - [Portable XR Screens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rayneo-air-3s-pro.md) - [AI-Connected Sports Glasses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ar-hud-display.md) - [Cardboard-Made Holographic Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-holographic-display.md)
