# Origami X-Wings Hubert de Lartigue Turns Old Subway Tickets into Yoda-Approved Art By Michael Hines | Published 2010-02-06 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hubert-de-lartigue References: [buzzfeed](http://www.buzzfeed.com/mathieus/star-wars-ships-made-in-subway-tickets-8q4) & [hubertdelartigue](http://www.hubertdelartigue.com/pp_xwing_01.html) I want to grow up and be Hubert de Lartigue. He combines the movie I love most, Star Wars, with the skill I envy the most, origami. These [origami Star Wars spacecrafts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti) are every geek's dream come true. Finally, an original way to recreate the epic ships that dominated my youth. What’s even better is Hubert de Lartigue creates these [original origami artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saori-matsushita) out of used Paris subway tickets. That’s recycling I can support. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Upcycling Art:** The trend of creating art from upcycled and recycled materials is on the rise, providing opportunities for artists and innovators to find new uses for discarded items. - **Geek Art:** The trend of incorporating geek culture into art is growing, offering opportunities for artists to tap into a passionate and dedicated fan base. - **Origami Craft:** The trend of creating origami art is gaining popularity, offering opportunities for artists to explore the intricate and complex possibilities of paper-folding techniques. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** The art world can embrace upcycling and geek culture to create unique and marketable pieces that appeal to a wider audience. - **Crafts and Hobbies:** The crafts and hobby industry can capitalize on the surge of interest in origami and other paper-based crafts to create and market new products, tools, and materials. - **Sustainable Design:** The sustainable design movement can benefit from the trend of upcycling and finding new uses for discarded materials, offering opportunities for innovation and eco-friendly solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stunning Origami Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-portaits.md) - [Millennium Falcon Trays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-tray.md) - [Sci-Fi Spacecraft LEGO Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scifi-spacecraft-lego-set.md) - [Cardboard Airplane Builds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-airplane.md) - [Sci Fi-Inspired Desk Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightsaber-lego.md) - [Sci-Fi Franchise-Inspired Fashion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-collection-2.md) - [Origami-Inspired Ceramics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-series.md) - [Hand-Knit Sci-Fi Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handknit-scifi-sculpture.md) - [Festive Sci-Fi Building Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gingerbread-atat-walker.md)
