Inspired by [traditional color swatches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/newstalgia-collection), the Hub Rug is modern, playful and full of character. Created by Portuguese product designer Rita Botelho, the Hub Rug was recently displayed at [Dutch Design Week](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monta-x-miffy) to the delight of the show-goers. Following a strong and vibrant visual theme, the Hub Rug would certainly complement just about any living space, especially since it is available in three different arrangements: full-circle, semi-circle and a pie-shaped quarter circle. Yes, the Hub Rug may look rearrangeable, but each of them are actually static. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.8/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Color Swatch Decor:** There is opportunity for disruptive innovation in developing a line of interior decoration products specifically inspired by color swatches. - **Modular Rug Design:** Creating modular rug designs that users can arrange and re-arrange to fit their individual spaces presents a disruptive innovation opportunity. - **Multi-purpose Rugs:** There is opportunity for disruptive innovation in designing rugs that are not only beautiful but also serve other purposes such as sound absorption and insulation. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can incorporate color swatch-inspired elements in decor and furnishings or offer modular rug designs to clients to customize their spaces. - **Textiles:** The textiles industry can innovate by creating multi-purpose rugs that provide additional benefits beyond just decoration and comfort. - **Home Furnishings:** The home furnishings industry can offer modular rug designs for consumers who want to have flexibility in their home decor decisions and are looking for unique, eclectic pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mesmerizing Artful Patterned Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electtrico-collection.md) - [Contemporary Woven Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hagga-icon.md) - [Exquisite Textured Rug Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/textured-rug.md) - [Season-Inspired Rug Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistic-rug-range.md) - [Geometric Colorful Rug Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giro-rug.md) - [Patterned Artisanal Hand-Tufted Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giro.md) - [Desert-Inspired Floor Coverings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-rug.md) - [Math-Inspired Colorful Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/weave-collection.md) - [Floral-Inspired Home Rug Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magical-garden.md)
