The House Snapped in Japan is one of such commissions that draws you in like it's a good book. Naf Architect & Design dreamed up a dwelling that appears to have been sliced and then partially separated. About a third of the structure seems to swing out from the rest, keeping connected by a single column and partitioned space. This massing creates two enclosed living areas that touch each other diagonally, dividing up two outdoor sections for the entrance and the yard. For added playfulness, the House Snapped was finished in [bright blue siding](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/two-face-house), everywhere but along the apparently split facades. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 15% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Large-scale Sculpture Architecture:** The mindset of treating projects like large-scale sculptures opens up opportunities for innovative and captivating buildings. - **Split-personality Dwellings:** Designing dwellings with split-personalities creates unique and visually appealing living spaces. - **Playful Facades:** Using playful facades, such as bright blue siding, adds creativity and visual interest to architectural designs. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** Architects can explore the concept of treating projects like large-scale sculptures to create innovative and captivating buildings. - **Real Estate:** Real estate professionals can market and sell split-personality dwellings as unique and visually appealing living spaces. - **Construction Materials:** The demand for playful facade materials, like bright colored siding, can create opportunities for the construction materials industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Inverted Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-with-an-inverted-roof.md) - [Compact Corner Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modus-architect.md) - [Void-Cut Elevated Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kumagaya.md) - [Intersecting Block-Formed Narrow Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-fujidera.md) - [Ever-Changing Japanese Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kumagaya-house.md) - [Modern Multi-Purpose Japanese Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/muiltipurpose-japanese-building.md) - [Japanese Coastal Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-house-in-onomichi.md) - [Vertically Ruptured Juxtaposing Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tear-away-house.md) - [Materially Expressive Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alma-switch-house.md)
