The Watchhouse can be found sitting in a field somewhere in the Dutch countryside. It is a small house made out of wood and straw. Objects such as a desk and chair sit on top of straw bales and a blanket and pillow represent a bed. The house is one of 13 projects that form part of the ‘Vijverberg Vi’ exhibition in Tytsjerk. The curator, Dutch Art Historian Ankie Bomstrais, chose 13 artists to submit pieces based on the theme of ‘*time is short and definite, derived from the sundial in the park*. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 57% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [DIY](https://www.trendhunter.com/diy) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Eco-architecture:** The use of natural materials like straw and wood creates sustainable and environmentally friendly housing solutions. - **Rustic Minimalism:** The combination of minimalistic interior design with rural architecture presents an intriguing and attractive concept for housing - **Artistic Building:** The integration of art and architecture creates unique and eye-catching designs for residential and public spaces. ### Where This Applies - **Construction:** The use of unconventional building materials like straw creates opportunities for new eco-friendly construction practices. - **Interior Design:** Designers can experiment with the integration of rustic and minimalist elements to create unique and inviting spaces. - **Art and Culture:** The fusion of art and architecture opens up possibilities for public displays and installations of imaginative and innovative artwork ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Architectural Archetype-Themed Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-r.md) - [Locally Sourced Angular Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/straw-flea-house.md) - [Farm Architecture-Inspired Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/farmworkers-house.md) - [Thatched-Roof Wooden Huts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hitsujigoya.md) - [Hat-Shaped Metal-Topped Holiday Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hee-house.md) - [Modern Concrete Hayfield Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/759-house.md) - [Book-Inspired Timber-Lined Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hat-house.md) - [Barn-Form Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twisted-house1.md) - [Dutch Barn Spiralled Staircase](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/julia-van-beuningen.md)
