# Obviously Unfurnished Homes House K in Japan by Yoshichika Takagi By Jessica Marcel | Published 2010-03-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-k References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2010/03/26/house-k-by-yoshichika-takagi/) & [sekkeisya.ecnet.jp](http://www.sekkeisya.ecnet.jp/) [House K](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-k-1) is located in [Sapporo, Japan](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pyramid-hut). The home was just completed by architect Yoshichika Takagi, who used lots of angles and a simple color palate in his design. House K was beautifully photographed and, even though it barely has any furniture in it, feels complete. In the center of the home, in stark contrast to the rest of the interior, stands an [iron stove](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grey-house). The strong contrast between the black stove and the white and light wood walls creates visual interest. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 73% | Activity: 16% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalist Aesthetics:** Opportunities for businesses to design products and spaces that prioritize simplicity and function over excess decoration. - **Less-is-more Architecture:** Opportunities for architects and builders to create visually striking structures through the use of negative space and minimal design elements. - **Pared-down Interiors:** Opportunities for interior designers to create environments that are visually impactful through the use of only essential furnishings and decor. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Architects and builders can incorporate minimalist design principles into commercial and residential projects. - **Furniture:** Furniture makers can create minimalist designs that prioritize function over form. - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies can offer streamlined decor options that complement the minimalist aesthetic. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimal Japanese Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-kyobate.md) - [Traditional Japan-Honoring Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/c4l-house.md) - [Cave-Like Exposed Concrete Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nakano-house.md) - [Modern Multi-Purpose Japanese Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/muiltipurpose-japanese-building.md) - [Peaceful Wooden-Designed Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hiroo-residence.md) - [Ever-Changing Japanese Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kumagaya-house.md) - [Raw Concrete Industrial Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-nishizaki.md) - [Raw Blackened-Wood Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yamaguchicho-house.md) - [Traditional Japanese-Inspired Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doma-house.md)
