Kraków-based Kropka Studio designed this house in Poland for a family of four. Located near the city of Zawiercie, the home features the same [local limestone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-quinto-sol) that is used to build neighboring churches and castles.

The Polish Jura region, where the site is located, is known for its [rolling landscape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plener-istebna) made up of valleys, limestone rock and cliffs. This landscape has had a meaningful impact on the design of the architecture built on top of it.

This design is hinged upon [gabions filled with rock and soil](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/el-pastizal), which are normally used to prevent erosion, but in this case form an ornamental layer around the home. Architect Gosia Lapaj explains that the gabions provide a "camouflage net which covers the bright, spacious interior."
