# Softly Sculptural Architecture A-cero Architect's House in Madrid Looks Like a Monument By Meghan Young | Published 2011-04-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-madrid References: [trendsnow.net](http://www.trendsnow.net/2011/04/house-in-madrid-by-a-cero-architects.html) & [a-cero](http://www.a-cero.com/) The House in Madrid looks like a huge sculpture or monument rather than an actual home, but that is the unique beauty behind this structure. Clearly designed and created for a person of both note and discerning taste, this statement-making residence will surely take breaths away every time someone looks at it. Designed by Madrid-based firm A-cero Architects, the House in Madrid boasts sloping, contemporary lines that lend to its artistic nature. The three-story home is entirely built out of concrete. As a family home, the House in Madrid may seem like a mausoleum, but its soft facade does give it a comforting feel. This same softness plays off of its natural surroundings as well, making it a welcoming abode. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sculptural Architecture:** Emphasizing the artful aspects of traditionally functional spaces creates an opportunity for designers to create beautifully unique structures - **Contemporary Lines:** Contemporary design is becoming increasingly sought-after, offering opportunities for architects and interior designers to explore and redefine traditional spaces. - **Soft Facades:** An emphasis on soft, welcoming exteriors can create spaces that are both modern and inviting. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** The field of architecture can transform the ways in which societal structures are constructed, with innovative designs becoming increasingly desirable. - **Interior Design:** As the line between function and form continues to blur, interior designers can capitalize on designing spaces that are both beautiful and functional. - **Real Estate:** Creating unique and visually striking homes encourages buyers to consider more than just the physical functionality of a space, but also its artistic value. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Floating Level Aesthetic Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oak-house-1.md) - [Monolithic Custom Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-catedral.md) - [Sculptural Canteliver Concrete Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-del-alma.md) - [Robust Monolithic Walled Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-1736.md) - [Modern Sculptural Garden Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/priyam-home.md) - [Reflective Artful Calming Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-gesso.md) - [Hillside Concrete Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concrete-house-1.md) - [Burnt Orange Walled Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-magarola.md) - [Warm Tonal Textural Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bolvar-house.md)
