They knew they didn't want to stay in Chicago forever, but also were averse to renting. During this trying time in their lives, a series of [tiny-house documentaries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/library-tiny-house) sprang up, and the two soon considered it as an option. They later decided upon transforming an old 1990 school bus into the [mobile home of their dreams](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-house-of-wheels), effectively addressing both of their problems. The House Bus covers all the basic essentials, with a bedroom, small living, dinning rooms and washroom. The kitchen features wooden countertops and even a wood-burning oven. Although the couple feels at home, its mobile nature gives them a constant sense of adventure. The affordability and flexibility of this new, mobile way of living may inspire others who were in similar positions. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.7/10 - Popularity: 99% | Activity: 95% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Tiny House Movement:** The growing popularity of tiny houses presents opportunities for innovative designs and products that cater to minimalistic living. - **Mobile Homes:** The concept of transforming vehicles into comfortable and customizable living spaces creates new opportunities in the mobile housing market. - **Sustainable Living:** The use of eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient solutions in house-bus conversions opens up avenues for sustainable living practices. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Improvement:** The market for compact and space-saving solutions in home designs and furnishings can cater to the needs of tiny house enthusiasts. - **Recreational Vehicles:** The recreational vehicle industry can explore innovative ways to transform buses and other vehicles into comfortable living spaces for travelers. - **Renewable Energy:** Companies specializing in renewable energy can create solutions tailored for mobile homes, such as solar-powered systems and energy-efficient appliances. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Compact Fully-Functioning Camp Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/busbox.md) - [Cabin-Transformed Vintage Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1970-volkswagen-beetle.md) - [Move-in-Ready Tiny Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-house-on-wheels.md) - [Micro-Living Portable Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buttercup-tiny-home.md) - [Integrated Engine Off-Roading Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rubishack.md) - [Compact House Getaways](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chipper-bnb.md) - [Transforming Off-Grid Camper Vans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vanspeed-evergreen-dream-2.md) - [Office-Equipped Camper Vans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nomadic-office.md) - [Ultra-Efficient Tiny Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hirondelle-tiny-house.md)
