The [chromatic extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/basalt-house) are made from [Irish blue limestone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/field-house) commissioned to keep with the cottage's bungalow-style. Architects where inspired by the severe symmetry of the contrasting roof on the [existing cottage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gate-lodge) for the building's extension. They fashioned the addition to bring a modernistic feel with staggered prismatic constructions. These provide enclosed courtyards that provide east-facing views of the scenic countryside landscapes. Contrasting the existing home's traditional look, the House at Goleen by Niall McLaughlin Architects piece is a sight to see in its own respect. The added blue limestone material becomes highly reflective when wet and adds a reflective nature to the extension that makes for a marvelous vision amidst the Irish greenery. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Chromatic Extensions:** There is an opportunity for innovative construction materials and techniques that utilize chromatic extensions to create visually stunning buildings. - **Staggered Prismatic Constructions:** There is potential for creating unique architectural designs using staggered prismatic constructions to offer enclosed courtyards and captivating views. - **Reflective Nature in Architecture:** There is a need for more architects to explore the use of materials that offer a reflective nature to create visually striking buildings that interact with their surroundings. ### Where This Applies - **Construction:** Construction companies can explore new materials and techniques to incorporate chromatic extensions and staggered prismatic constructions in their projects. - **Architecture:** Architectural firms can experiment with the concept of reflective nature in their designs, using materials that create visually intriguing and interactive structures. - **Tourism:** The tourism industry can promote attractions and destinations that feature buildings with chromatic extensions and reflective nature, attracting visitors who appreciate unique architecture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Window-Lined Country Home Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rathdown.md) - [Medieval Cottage Steel Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/watercress-cottage.md) - [Stone Cottage Renos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hameart-project.md) - [Timber-Clad Home Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thornbury-house.md) - [Coastal Island Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pasparakisfriel.md) - [Tranquil Subdued House Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heliotrope-architects.md) - [Architectural Bright Rooftop Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blue-house.md) - [Limestone-Wrapped Rural Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/field-house.md) - [Sandstone Brick Home Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stone-and-steel-house.md)
