Though it does sound like a paradox, the home fuses aesthetics from both the past and contemporary designs for an aesthetically-pleasing hybrid home. A retro feel is established through the sprawled-out main-floor living areas, a look that really echoes popular homes in the 50s and 60s. In terms of the modern aspects of House 6, highlights include the [abstract boxed exterior](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ph8-penthouse) and the [use of levels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-of-seven-floors). The beautiful studio halogen lighting also adds a contemporary touch. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.9/10 - Popularity: 92% | Activity: 77% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Retro-modern Hybrid Homes:** Home designs that blend retro and contemporary aesthetics offer a creative opportunity for architects to push the boundaries of conventional styles. - **Expanded Living Spaces:** Designing homes with large, sprawling living areas creates a welcoming and hospitable environment while maintaining the elegance of the overall design. - **Boxed Exterior Designs:** Aesthetic boxed exteriors are a trend that can be used to tie in modern elements to a home design, allowing architects to experiment with stylized exteriors. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** Architects can explore innovative designs that combine retro and modern styles to create unique homes that stand out from typical designs. - **Lighting:** Modern studio halogen lighting offers an opportunity to further complement a home's aesthetic with a contemporary touch, and can be used to highlight unique design elements. - **Real Estate:** Homes that incorporate both retro and modern elements may generate more interest and higher property values, presenting a disruptive innovation opportunity for the real estate industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Charming Angular Contemporary Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trapezium-house.md) - [Texture-Varying Apartment Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flat-6.md) - [Floating Level Aesthetic Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oak-house-1.md) - [Sleek Contemporary Brazilian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laguna-house.md) - [Traditional Barn-Style Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/six-square-house.md) - [Stilts-Reading Suspended Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-hole-with-the-house-around.md) - [Brazilian Modern Dallas Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brazilian-modernism.md) - [Discreet Modern Brazil Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jf-residence.md) - [Modern Dark Tonal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/texas-residence.md)
