Situated in an [old church](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blue-architecture-studio-1), the hospitality business is infused with character by New York City-based firm INC Architecture and Design. The practice definitely used the historical status of the building as an advantage. The mission of the radically eclectic presentation of hotel furnishing is to "convey an [old-meets-new design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lichelle-silvestry)" to guests of the hotel — a contrast that not only draws attention but is also quite interesting to experience. A key feature of INC Architecture and Design's work is the repurposed chandelier in the lobby. The silhouette of the fixture answers to contemporary sensibilities, while its piping was previously part of the church's organ. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [World](https://www.trendhunter.com/world) > [Travel](https://www.trendhunter.com/travel) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Mismatched Hotel Furnishings:** Opportunity to create unique and eclectic design experiences in the hospitality industry. - **Old-meets-new Design:** Innovation opportunity for blending historical elements with modern aesthetics in architecture and interior design. - **Repurposed Chandeliers:** Disruptive potential in repurposing old fixtures to create contemporary lighting designs. ### Who This Affects Most - **Hospitality:** Chance to differentiate hotels by incorporating mismatched furnishings for a distinctive atmosphere. - **Architecture and Design:** Opportunity for architects and designers to explore the blend of old and new design elements in their projects. - **Lighting:** Innovative uses of repurposed chandeliers offer unique lighting options for various industries such as hospitality, retail, and residential. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Retro Nightlife-Inspired Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/htel-chteau-deau.md) - [Home-Comfort Muted Tonal Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yingnflo.md) - [Authentic Hotel Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/berlins-chteau-royal-hotel.md) - [Luxuriously Artistic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/child-studio1.md) - [Custom-Made Furniture Hotel Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mix-brussels.md) - [Eclectic Bistro Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deux-gares-express-caf.md) - [Whimsically Designed Hotel Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cowley-manor-experimental.md) - [Refreshed Retreat Interior Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brecon.md) - [Rugged Charming Hotel Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-longfellow-hotel.md)
