# Curiously Cutout Cabinets The Hotel Claska Long-Term Resident Rooms are Inspired by Inventory By Meghan Young | Published 2011-11-23 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hotel-claska References: [inspire.2ia.pl](http://inspire.2ia.pl/post/13090576997/hotel-claska-by-torafu-architects) & [torafu](http://torafu.com/) The Hotel Claska long-term resident rooms have a unique blend of quirkiness and sophistication. The sophistication stems from the relatively sparse and classic look of the room, which is predominantly all dark wood, white walls and neutral flooring. The quirky quality comes from the [curiously cutout cabinet](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuff-pencil-cabinet) that decorates one entire wall. Inspired by the hotel's room inventory, the Hotel Claska long-term resident rooms' cabinet boasts cutouts of such items as a lamp, hairdryer, coat, books and more. Yet, these cutouts are more than simple details that work to increase the character of each room. The Hotel Claska [cutout cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/obelisk-3) also act as handy shelves that hold the specific item that it takes the shape of. The Hotel Claska long-term resident rooms were designed by Torafu Architects. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Cutout Design:** Cutout designs in furniture create both functional and aesthetic appeal. - **Inventory-inspired Design:** Designing products based on inventory can lead to unique and personalized designs. - **Long-term Hospitality Design:** Long-term stay accommodations provide opportunities for creative and personalized design. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Designing furniture with cutout designs can make furniture more functional while giving it a unique look. - **Hospitality Industry:** Hotels can create unique and personalized designs for long-term residents to increase customer satisfaction. - **Interior Design:** Designers can take inspiration from inventory to create personalized and unique designs for their clients. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cut-Out Structural Narrow Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hotel-rakuragu.md) - [Forest-Inspired Wooden Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hayashi-cabinet.md) - [Tokyo-Inspired Contemporary Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trunkhotel-cat-street.md) - [Japanese-Inspired Cabinet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/veil-cabinets.md) - [Stationery-Themed Hotel Rooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-fontaine-haneda-airport.md) - [Modular Configured Office Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabinet.md) - [Whimsically Designed Hotel Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cowley-manor-experimental.md) - [Bespoke Furniture Hotel Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/locke-hotel-2.md) - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md)
