# Ballooner Jungle Gyms A Hot-Air Balloon Swing May Grace a Riverside Park in Queens, New York By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-01-27 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hotair-balloon-swing References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2015/01/27/balloon-swing-jesse-lockhart-krause-installation-proposal-new-york-park/) & [lockhartkrause.au](http://lockhartkrause.com.au/Projects.html) Children and adults -- with the expensive dream of hovering over the city on gas power -- would be delighted by the installation of this hot-air balloon swing. Proposed by Jesse Lockhart-Krause, this imaginative piece of playground architecture would enable users to float freely in the air as they oscillate back and forth. With an enormous canopy of color overhead, visitors to the Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island, New York, can sway solo, experiencing a new level of lightness on an American oak wood seat. The inflated nylon chute would be anchored securely to the ground by polypropylene ropes and a structure of aluminum posts. The latter would help to deliver warm gas for the momentary raising of the hot-air balloon swing set during each use. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 18% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Hot-air Balloon Playgrounds:** The introduction of hot-air balloon elements in playground design creates an innovative and unique experience for children. - **Aerial Adventure Tourism:** Ballooner jungle gyms could inspire new forms of aerial tourism, offering a unique viewpoint and thrilling experience for a range of ages. - **Alternative Playgrounds:** Playgrounds that incorporate unconventional features like hot-air balloon swings provide a novel and attention-grabbing experience for children and adults alike. ### Who This Affects Most - **Playground Equipment Manufacturing:** Manufacturers of playground equipment who incorporate non-traditional elements like hot-air balloon swings into designs will gain a competitive edge via uniqueness and creativity. - **Tourism:** Aerial adventure tourism companies who leverage hot-air balloon swings in park settings could offer new experiences for families and thrill seekers alike. - **Public Parks and Recreation:** Municipalities and companies responsible for public parks and recreation areas could attract more visitors by featuring cutting-edge playground equipment like hot-air balloon swings. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playground-Inspired Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swing-seat.md) - [Dual-Function Play Swings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/birddy.md) - [Heritage Sound Playgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hornscape-playground.md) - [Minimalist Outdoor Swings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-swing.md) - [Fitness-Inspired Backyard Playsets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/backyard-playsets.md) - [Futuristic Glowing Playgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joya-1.md) - [Generational-Lasting Dynamic Playgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mike-hewson-2.md) - [Customizable Outdoor Play Equipment](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/king-swings.md) - [Immersive Balloon Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balloon-story-popup.md)
