Instructables user Cats Science Club came up with the idea and posted a easy-to-follow tutorial on its account. By punching a skewer through the lid, cutting out a rectangular window in the side of the can and replacing the cut-out with plastic wrap, the can will be able to cook effortlessly and reach temperatures over 170 degrees Fahrenheit. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.4/10 - Popularity: 78% | Activity: 75% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Food](https://www.trendhunter.com/food) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **DIY Hot Dog Cookers:** Opportunity to create innovative and simple solar oven designs using everyday materials like empty chip containers. - **Solar Cooking:** Potential for further development and improvement of solar cooking technology for easy and sustainable outdoor cooking. - **Upcycling:** Opportunity to explore creative ways to repurpose everyday items for practical uses, such as transforming an empty Pringles can into a hot dog cooker. ### Where This Applies - **Outdoor Cooking Equipment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to develop budget-friendly solar cookers as an alternative to traditional grills and barbecues. - **DIY Craft Supplies:** Opportunity for DIY retailers to cater to consumers' interest in eco-friendly solutions by offering craft supplies for upcycling projects. - **Sustainable Home Goods:** Potential market demand for sustainable and energy-efficient cooking equipment as part of eco-conscious lifestyle choices. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [DIY Solar Oven Guides](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-solar-oven.md) - [Beer-Branded Solar Cookers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/busch-light-solar-cooker.md) - [DIY Microphone Amplifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/limited-edition-microphone-amplifier.md) - [Outdoor Skewer-Based Cookers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/innovative-outdoor-cooker.md) - [Renewable Energy Camping Grills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adventure-boilgrill.md) - [Flatpack Campsite Grills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldable-camping-grill.md) - [Hot Dog Bun Toasters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hot-dog-bun-toasters.md) - [Tubiform Solar Ovens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tubiform-solar-oven.md) - [Grill-Inspired Snack Crisps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pringles-x-miller-lite.md)
