# DIY Uplifting Cupcake Decor This DIY Hot Air Balloon Decoration Lifts Moods at Gatherings By Jen Chae | Published 2013-06-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hot-air-balloon-deco References: [madincrafts](http://www.madincrafts.com/2013/06/hot-air-balloon-sweets-table-inspired.html) This hot air balloon decoration and step by step instructions can be found on the Mad in Crafts blog. This fly-away design is not filled with hot air. The balloon is a smaller water balloon, attached to baker's twine as its ropes. The basket is a small round mint tin. For those wanting to put this together, make sure the tin can is big enough to fit a cupcake -- this 3D cupcake holder will serve dessert in a special, elevated way. Mixing and matching the colors of the balloon, ropes and tin to match the colors of the cupcakes would be a fun idea too. This DIY project was inspired by the movie Oz the Great and Powerful. It would add a magical touch to a sweets table for any party. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 49% | Activity: 54% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [DIY](https://www.trendhunter.com/diy) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **DIY Decorations:** Opportunity to create unique and personalized decorations for events and parties. - **Creative Dessert Displays:** Opportunity to elevate dessert presentations with fun and imaginative designs. - **Movie-inspired Crafts:** Opportunity to create DIY crafts inspired by popular movies, tapping into the fanbase. ### Who This Affects Most - **Event Planning:** Opportunity for event planners to offer personalized and creative decorations for their clients' events. - **Baking and Pastry:** Opportunity for bakers to enhance their dessert displays with unique and eye-catching designs. - **Craft and Hobby:** Opportunity for craft and hobby retailers to offer movie-inspired DIY craft kits or supplies. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Space-Themed Desserts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacethemed-dessert.md) - [Cotton Candy Drink Toppers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cotton-candy-magic-floating-puff-balls.md) - [Balloon Dog Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balloon-dog-cake.md) - [Air Balloon-Inspired Lamp Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-balloon-lamp.md) - [Edible Flower Baking Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edible-flower-kit.md) - [Cotton Candy Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cotton-candy-cake.md) - [Supersized Celebration Cupcakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crumbs-colossal-cupcake.md) - [Space-Themed Cupcake Mixes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/galaxy-cupcakes-mix.md) - [Riviera-Inspired Dining Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hot-air-balloon-dining.md)
