# Extreme Equestrian Sports Horse Boarding is a Mashup of Horseback Riding and Mountain Boarding By Michael Hines | Published 2011-03-27 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horse-boarding References: [odditycentral](http://www.odditycentral.com/funny/horse-boarding-the-latest-in-equestrian-extreme-sports.html) Horseback riding and mountain boarding collide in Britain's newest sport, horse boarding. The sport of horse boarding does not involve waterboarding a horse; instead, horse boarding sees a [mountain boarder](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mach-one-electric-skateboard) being towed by a [horseback rider](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/agricultural-winter-fair). Daniel Fowler-Prime, the sport's inventor and a professional stunt horse rider, has organized Britain's first [horse boarding championship](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adrea) to take place over the summer. The championship will be held on a farm with two teams racing against each other on a 100-meter course. I have to admit that the images and the video make horse boarding seem a tad tame, but Fowler-Prime has reportedly hit speeds of over 30 mph while horse boarding. If that isn't enough to get your heart racing, I don't know what will. The Olympics had better watch their back. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 5% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/pets) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Extreme Sports:** Expanding extreme sports like horse boarding blend traditional activities with unconventional elements, attracting thrill-seekers and pushing the boundaries of what is possible. - **Hybrid Sports:** The emergence of hybrid sports such as horse boarding opens up opportunities for athletes and enthusiasts to combine multiple disciplines, creating unique experiences and offering new avenues for competition. - **Alternative Recreation:** Alternative forms of recreation like horse boarding tap into the desire for non-traditional activities, providing an outlet for adventure and excitement through innovative mashups of existing sports. ### Who This Affects Most - **Sports and Recreation:** The sports and recreation industry can leverage the popularity of extreme and hybrid activities like horse boarding, creating new products, services, and experiences to cater to the growing demand. - **Outdoor Adventure:** The outdoor adventure industry can explore partnerships and opportunities with hybrid sports like horse boarding, offering unique experiences and equipment tailored to outdoor enthusiasts seeking thrilling and unconventional activities. - **Entertainment and Events:** The entertainment and events industry can capitalize on alternative forms of recreation such as horse boarding by hosting and promoting competitions, festivals, and exhibitions that cater to adrenaline junkies seeking unconventional entertainment options. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Virtual Horse-Racing Tournaments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/championships-galore.md) - [Hybrid Electric Surfer Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scubajet-hybridboard.md) - [Multipurpose Modular Watersports Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/watersports-board.md) - [Onewheel Off-Road Board](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/offroad-board.md) - [Hybridized Electric Longboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybridized-electric-longboards.md) - [Rideable Sandcastle Courses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rideable-sandcastle-course.md) - [Sensor-Equipped Equestrian Saddles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-saddle.md) - [Virtual Horseracing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vr-horseracing.md) - [Riproaring Electric Snowboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-snowboard.md)
