It is an [avant-garde design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-brutalist-speaker) that has in fact been inspired by the original [spinning double horn speaker](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acoustic-sculpture-speaker), also made by Specimen. The idea of mounting it on the ceiling is clever and inventive, suiting the artistic nature of the spaces it ideally belongs to. “[The sound] envelopes the space in a variety of merging wave fronts both emanating directly from the horn, and reflect[ing] off surfaces in the environment” explains the designers. “Being located near the ceiling enhances the ‘room effect and make the bass response even more pronounced.” With such an [original design and mounting technique](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-craftmanship-a-new-world), the Ceiling Janus is surely a superb piece for all creativity-infilled rooms and offices. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 6% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Ceiling-mounted Speakers:** Ceiling-mounted speakers are becoming more popular and offer a disruptive innovation opportunity for home entertainment systems. - **Artistic Speaker Design:** Artistic speaker design continues to grow, providing a disruptive innovation opportunity for interior designers. - **Reflective Sound Technology:** Reflective sound technology is being embraced by audio equipment manufacturers and presents a disruptive innovation opportunity for concert venues and event planners. ### Where This Applies - **Recording Studios:** The Ceiling Janus by Specimen is ideal for recording studios and presents a disruptive innovation opportunity for audio engineering firms. - **Art and Design Studios:** Art and design studios can benefit from the Ceiling Janus by Specimen and presents a disruptive innovation opportunity for architects and interior designers. - **Luxury Home Entertainment:** The Ceiling Janus by Specimen is well-suited for high-end home entertainment systems and presents a disruptive innovation opportunity for audio equipment manufacturers and retailers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Speaker Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sonique.md) - [Transparent Loudspeaker Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loudspeaker-system.md) - [Swappable Component Floor Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loudt-musegg.md) - [Decor-Centric Speaker Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aura-speaker.md) - [User-Following Speaker Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solros-speaker.md) - [Immersive Multi-Room Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multiroom-speaker.md) - [Nature-Inspired Speaker Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/devialet-butterfly.md) - [Space-Inspired Sound Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beosound-2-vollebak.md) - [Acousto-Optic Smart Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-wireless-speaker-design.md)
