This project demonstrates how modern architecture can harmonize with fragile island ecosystems. The award-winning Horizon House is located in Syros, Greece. The structure exemplifies regenerative design principles through its thoughtful integration with the Cycladic landscape and innovative approach to self-sufficient living. The residence achieves net-zero energy status through a combination of [passive design strategies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-culo) and active systems, including micro wind turbines and geothermal climate control. Water autonomy is also achieved through comprehensive rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling. The architectural form — [partially submerged into the hillside](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-the-slope) — reflects a sensitive response to the terrain. Material selection emphasizes local provenance and circularity, with site-excavated stone and reclaimed wood forming the primary construction elements.
