# Four-Faced Storage Systems The Hool Shelf Stows Stuff in Hidden Cubbies on All Sides By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-05-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hool-shelf References: [blog.2modern](http://blog.2modern.com/2012/05/christianvivanco.html) & [christianvivanco](http://christianvivanco.com/furniture/hool-shelve/) There's nothing deceptive about the Hool Shelf, yet it can successfully keep your things unseen on at least two of its ledges from any given angle of sight. The piece maintains the rigid rectangular dimensions that you might expect from a basic [four-tier storage system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledoux-prt-collection), but no one side of it has more than one square cubby. A lovely pale wood composes and clads the entirety of the furnishing, expressing its soft wood grain texture across three quarters of every facade. Each opening acts as an interruption of this smooth surface but delights with a [lime green covering inside](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/center-center-storage). Designed primarily for children, Christian Vivanco's shelving concept comes accented with a [branch-like clothes hook](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/berto-hidden-secrets) on one wall. Here, the Hool Shelf suggests the perfect place to hang your coat, above a box at the very base for stashing your shoes. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 51% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Hidden Storage Solutions:** The Hool Shelf demonstrates the potential for innovative hidden storage systems that can keep belongings unseen from any angle. - **Multi-functional Furniture:** The Hool Shelf showcases the possibility for furniture that serves multiple purposes, such as combining storage and hanging space. - **Creative Use of Materials:** The Hool Shelf highlights the opportunity for utilizing unique materials, like pale wood with lime green accents, to create visually appealing furniture pieces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The Hool Shelf presents an opportunity for furniture manufacturers to create innovative storage solutions that prioritize functionality and aesthetics. - **Interior Design:** The Hool Shelf opens up possibilities for interior designers to incorporate hidden storage and multi-functional furniture into their designs. - **Children's Furniture:** The Hool Shelf caters to the children's furniture market, providing a disruptive innovation opportunity for manufacturers in this industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Living Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treevive.md) - [L-Shaped Stacked Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loft-shelf.md) - [Abstract Jigsaw-Like Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spectator-shelf.md) - [Customizable Storage Furniture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelved-modular-furniture.md) - [Adaptable Flat-Pack Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flat-pack-shelving.md) - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md) - [Modular Configuration Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/repisa-01.md) - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md) - [Customizable Style-Conscious Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledoux-modular-shelf-system.md)
