This gluten-free, simple-ingredient refreshment is made with a base of carbonated water and honey, plus natural flavors, citric acid and sodium citrate—and nothing else. Yes Honey got its start when founder Heather and her son were diagnosed with [Alpha](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lb-nasa-gen-ii-bomber-jacket)-gal, known as the "red meat" allergy, which restricts the consumption of mammalian meats and by-products, including certain sugars. This condition is gaining wider recognition, prompting a growing number of brands to develop and clearly label Alpha-gal-friendly products that give those affected safe, clearly marked options without having to navigate ingredient lists with anxiety. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 52% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 85% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Drinking](https://www.trendhunter.com/drinking) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Alpha-gal-friendly Beverages:** Clearly labeled drinks formulated without mammalian by-products create white space for allergy-safe refreshment brands serving a newly visible consumer segment. - **Honey-sweetened Sodas:** Natural sweeteners such as honey are reshaping soda alternatives by pairing familiar indulgence with simpler ingredient lists and reduced reliance on artificial additives. - **Clean-label Allergy Assurance:** Transparent formulations and condition-specific claims are turning ingredient verification into a competitive differentiator for consumers managing complex dietary restrictions. ### Who This Affects Most - **Functional Beverages:** Specialty sodas positioned around dietary compatibility and ingredient simplicity expand the category beyond wellness claims into personalized safety and trust. - **Natural Sweeteners:** Honey-based formulations highlight opportunities for sweetener suppliers to support premium beverage innovation tied to recognizable, minimally processed ingredients. - **Allergy-friendly Foods:** Rising awareness of Alpha-gal syndrome is broadening demand for packaged products with explicit safety cues, traceable ingredients and simplified consumer decision-making. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Canned Scotch Whiskey Spirits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-whisky.md) - [Whisky-Infused Canadian Sodas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whisky-ginger-ale.md) - [Fruity Cane-Sugar Sodas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peach-mango-ginger-ale.md) - [Fruit-Forward Ginger Ale Sodas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canada-dry-fruit-splash-strawberry.md) - [Prebiotic Ginger Ale-Inspired Sodas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poppi-ginger-fizz.md) - [Cafe-Branded Dirty Soda Menus](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aroma-joes-dirty-soda.md) - [Artisanal Single-Serve Cocktail Mixers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/double-dutch-mixers.md) - [Functional Ginger Water Drinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ginja-snap.md) - [Alcohol-Free Dessert Cocktails](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heavenly-desserts-and-cleanco.md)
