Inspired by the classic fairytale Pinocchio, this device is shaped to resemble the wooden puppet’s head. The only thing missing is his nose. When you stick a pencil into the sharper it becomes Pinocchio’s nose, and as you sharpen it, the length of his nose decreases, which means that this version of Geppetto’s craftsmanship must actually tell more truths than lies. The Kikkerland Honest Boy Pencil Sharpener sells for $9.99 and is a fun, functional [desk accessory](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ofiistory-desk-supplies) that would look great in any office, or make a cute back to school present for one of the kids. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 3% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Playful Desk Accessories:** The trend of playful desk accessories presents an opportunity for businesses to create unique and enjoyable office supplies that bring more fun to the workplace. - **Inspired by Fairytales:** Designs inspired by classic fairytales, like Pinocchio, offer a chance for innovative products that tap into nostalgia and storytelling. - **Interactive Office Supplies:** Interactive office supplies, like the Pinocchio pencil sharpener, provide an opportunity for businesses to create engaging and interactive tools that enhance productivity and creativity. ### Where This Applies - **Stationery Industry:** The stationery industry could leverage the trend of playful desk accessories by creating more imaginative and whimsical products for customers. - **Gift and Novelty Industry:** The gift and novelty industry can benefit from creating unique and nostalgia-inspired products, like the Pinocchio pencil sharpener, that make for great presents and collectibles. - **Office Supplies Industry:** The office supplies industry can explore the production of more interactive and engaging tools, such as interactive pencil sharpeners, to enhance the work experience for professionals. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Electric Pencil Sharpener](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-pencil-sharpener.md) - [Dumpster Pencil Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dumpstuder-pencil-holders.md) - [Vertical Pencil Sharpening Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pencil-sharpener-1.md) - [Spinning Desk Sharpeners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ferfereh.md) - [Unique Writing Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graphite-paintbrush-writing-instrument.md) - [Recycled Plastic Writing Utensils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mechanical-drop-pencil.md) - [Clothespin-Inspired Mechanical Pencils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pentapa.md) - [Self-Sharpening Coloring Pencils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinity-colouring-pencils.md) - [Exclusive Movie-Inspired Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guillermo-del-toros-pinocchio.md)
