# Metal Moat Desk The Homework Table by Tomas Kral Keeps Items Organized By Meghan Young | Published 2013-02-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/homework-table References: [hypebeast](http://hypebeast.com/2013/1/homework-table-by-tomas-kral) & [tomaskral.ch](http://www.tomaskral.ch/) The Homework Table offers a unique sense of privacy. Unlike other desks such as the [Sphere Table](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sphere-table) or the [Fading Desk](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fading-desk), it doesn't provide a screen to shut people out. Instead, the Homework Table has what can be likened to a metal moat, which would theoretically keep conquerers away if not for its size. Designed by Slovakian designer Tomas Kral, the Homework Table is nevertheless still charming and inventive. The 'moat' is useful in terms of organization while also allowing for more free space on the working surface. Made out of metal and ash wood, the Homework Table has a contrasting aesthetic that is at once industrial and minimalist. The fact that the metal is sandwiched between two pieces of wood elevates the design immensely. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 35% | Activity: 80% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Unique Sense of Privacy:** The metal moat desk offers a unique sense of privacy by creating a barrier between the user and their surroundings, providing them with a secluded workspace. - **Innovative Organization:** With its metal moat design, the desk allows for efficient organization of items by providing a designated space for them, minimizing clutter and maximizing productivity. - **Contrasting Aesthetic:** The combination of metal and ash wood in the design of the desk creates a visually appealing contrast that enhances the overall aesthetic of the workspace. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture:** The metal moat desk presents a disruptive innovation opportunity in the furniture industry by offering a unique and functional design that enhances productivity and organization. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can leverage the metal moat desk as a disruptive innovation to create distinctive workspaces that prioritize privacy and efficient organization. - **Office Supplies:** The design of the metal moat desk opens up opportunities for disruptive innovation in the office supplies industry by introducing new organizational solutions for workspaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modular Working Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-working-desk.md) - [Minimalist Clutter-Free Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/parallel-work-table.md) - [Pocket Storage-Equipped Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocket-desk.md) - [Multilevel Minimalist Office Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-office-table.md) - [Ultra-Organized Work Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-for-students.md) - [Minimalist Modular Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/console-desk.md) - [Minimalist Storage-Friendly Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bold-desk.md) - [Child-Friendly Nomadic Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nomadic-desk.md) - [Minimalist Demure Designer Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/backup-desk.md)
