The costume is a great DIY project that no one else is sure to have at your next costume party. The [pop tart costume](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pop-tarts-bowl) is surprisingly easy to put together and it allows you to wear whatever you'd like since the costume is separate from your actual outfit. The costume begins with a large rectangular piece of cardboard that is painted to look like a pop tart featuring a creamy pastry topped with strawberry pink icing and [technicolor sprinkles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/team-sprinkles). The board can be attached to two heavy duty strings that can sit on your shoulders allowing you wear the pop tart across your body and dress how you please underneath. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 61% | Activity: 39% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [DIY](https://www.trendhunter.com/diy) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **DIY Halloween Costumes:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop a line of DIY Halloween costume kits that offer unique and creative designs inspired by popular treats or characters. - **Retro-inspired Fashion:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create a line of clothing and accessories that capture the nostalgia and fun of retro breakfast pastries, appealing to consumers looking for unique and whimsical fashion statements. - **Customizable Costumes:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design a platform or app that allows users to easily customize and personalize their own costumes, offering an interactive and engaging experience for individuals seeking one-of-a-kind outfits. ### Who This Affects Most - **Fashion:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborate with fashion brands to create limited-edition collections featuring retro-inspired breakfast pastry designs, tapping into the consumer desire for unique and nostalgia-driven fashion choices. - **Crafts and DIY:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop a subscription service that delivers monthly DIY costume kits, offering step-by-step instructions and materials to create unique and attention-grabbing outfits. - **E-commerce:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Build an online marketplace specifically for Halloween costumes, where users can buy and sell handmade and custom-designed costumes, catering to the growing demand for one-of-a-kind costumes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Oversized Party-Ready Pastries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poptarts-party-pastry.md) - [Macabre Halloween Snacks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poptarts-halloween-bites.md) - [Fashion-Inspired Toaster Pastries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poptarts-x-depop-box.md) - [Romantic Breakfast Pastries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frosted-sweet-swirl-cupcake-poptarts-bites.md) - [Edible Pastry Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pastry-holiday-homes.md) - [Candy Bowl Costumes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trickortreatable-costume.md) - [Toaster Pastry Bundt Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frosted-strawberry-poptarts.md) - [Sweet-and-Salty Costumes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/auntie-annes-and-cinnabon-costumes.md) - [Edible Pastry Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poptarts-gingerbread-lodge.md)
