British architect Guy Hollaway designed the 'Pobble House,' a home on Dungeness beach, Britain's only classified desert. The home's title comes from the Kentish word for "pebble."

Hollaway clad the [remote holiday home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daria-sheina) in steel mesh, larch and cement fiberboard. The materials were chosen, in part, to correspond to the home's setting. Hollaway explains, "The building is extremely durable, an important aspect considering the [harsh climate and exposed setting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hytte-riverview). The exposure will cause the larch and Corten to weather silver and red respectively –- an echo to the natural landscape."

The architect raised the building's base by half a meter, in order to keep its impact on the shingle minimal. This move allows for a [private deck, perfect for outdoor dining](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hors), on the southern end of the home.
