# Home Office Cottages This Unconventional Workplace Provides a Wonderful View of Nature By Christopher Magsambol | Published 2015-09-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/home-office References: [freshome](http://freshome.com/unconventional-work-sanctuary-modern-backyard-cottage-in-oslo?utm_source=feedly&utm_medium=webfeeds) & [jva.no](http://www.jva.no/projects.aspx) This modern home office resembles more of a [cozy cottage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/borova-lada-cottage) than a busy workplace. The cottage's homeowner wanted a [home office in his backyard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garden-office) to overlook the rural vistas of Oslo, Norway. As a writer, the owner wanted to have striking views of nature to help inspire him and ignite his imagination. The result is a uniquely shaped structure that takes advantages of its surrounding green space. Large windows are built to ensure maximum light travels in to the home. The interior of this home office is decorated with a [reading chair and a mezzanine](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/french-creek-workhops-house). Wood is the predominant material used to furnish the residence and adorns the home's walls and ceilings. Also, a stair-inspired book shelf provides storage and acts as the home's main focal point. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.4/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 64% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Home Office Cottages:** There is a growing trend towards creating natural and cozy home office spaces that inspire productivity and creativity. - **Sustainable Building Materials:** The use of sustainable building materials is becoming more popular as people aim to reduce their carbon footprint and create eco-friendly spaces. - **Incorporating Nature in Design:** Designers are increasingly incorporating nature into their building plans, creating unique and inspiring spaces for people to live and work in. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Architects have an opportunity to design innovative and sustainable home office spaces that take advantage of natural light, surroundings and materials. - **Furniture:** Furniture makers can create unique and functional furniture that fits the design of home office cottages, such as stair-inspired book shelves that serve as a focal point and storage space. - **Home Improvement:** Home improvement companies could capitalize on the growing demand for natural and sustainable building materials and design by offering consulting, installation, and landscaping services that cater to these needs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wooden Site Home OFfices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moss-rock.md) - [Treehouse Writing Studios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casetta-tessino.md) - [Cabin-Conjoined Singular Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1807-holiday-home.md) - [Dual-Workspace Backyard Sheds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/workshed.md) - [Log Cabin-Inspired Minimal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/restua.md) - [Remote Work-Catering Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-plow.md) - [Outdoor-Blended Summer Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/io-cabin.md) - [Circular Windowed Woodland Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timber-nest.md) - [Tranquil Nature-Centric Cabin Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nortehaus.md)
