To be debuted at the MOST exhibit during Milan Design Week 2013, the new home decor collection by Tom Dixon entitled 'Rough & Smooth' showcases the designer's talent for combining [contradictory textures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-world-sharp-edges) into a succinct series.

Taking inspiration from the natural world as well as the artificial world, Dixon emulates everything from the prismatic design of cellular growth to the pristine smoothness of a round bell. Ridges, grooves, [gem-like facets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/facet-collection) and shiny chrome slickness are seen on the various surfaces of this collection that is made up of several smaller series.

The [metallic finish](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pose-lighting), whether dull or polished, adds a hint of shine that takes this home decor collection from creative to incredible and highly glamorous.
