Imagine your [washing machine](http://www.yankodesign.com/product_info.php?products_id=1172)as an element of your room decoration! Or your extractor hood as an elegant livingroom centerpiece! The new limited edition [Steam Direct Washing Machine](http://www.yankodesign.com/product_info.php?products_id=1172) from LG and Designers Guild combines state of the art home technology with cutting-edge interior style. The collaboration has produced four eye-catching home appliances created to challenge the design and function of traditional white goods. [Elica's Star extractor hood](http://www.elica.co.uk) blurs the boundaries of light and air, extraction and illumination. Star's highly decorative spherical form, an entrancing cascade of crystal, is composed of hundreds of tiny glass prisms that make it a sophisticated and fascinating light source. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 21% | Activity: 41% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Combining Technology with Decoration:** The trend of combining technology with decoration in home appliances opens up opportunities for innovative and aesthetically pleasing designs. - **Home Appliances as Interior Design:** The trend of making home appliances a significant part of interior design schemes presents disruptive innovation opportunities in creating stylish and seamlessly integrated appliances. - **Blurring Boundaries in Appliance Design:** The trend of blurring boundaries between function and aesthetics in appliance design offers possibilities for creating unique and visually appealing products. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Appliance Industry:** The home appliance industry can explore disruptive innovation opportunities by incorporating technology and decoration to create visually appealing products that seamlessly blend into interior design. - **Interior Design Industry:** The interior design industry can embrace the trend of incorporating home appliances as stylish centerpieces, offering new design possibilities and integrated solutions for clients. - **Lighting Industry:** The lighting industry can capitalize on the trend of blurring boundaries between function and aesthetics in appliance design, creating innovative lighting solutions that enhance interior spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sleek Integrated Kitchen Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/integrated-kitchen-appliance.md) - [Advanced Home Appliance Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/advanced-home-appliance.md) - [Connected Luxurious Home Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-signature.md) - [Upgradeable Easy-to-Use Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-appliances.md) - [Energy Efficient Home Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/home-appliance-lineup.md) - [Sleek Home Appliance Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sks-chicago-showroom.md) - [Elevated Kitchen Appliance Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smeg-1.md) - [Gold-Accented Home Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smeg-x-ovo.md) - [AI-Supported Home Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-ai-home.md)
