# Towering Taper Holders Holy Candlesticks by Anki Gneib are Monuments to Natural Illumination By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-02-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holy-candlesticks-by-anki-gneib References: [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/46103/) & [ankigneib.se](http://www.ankigneib.se/design/holy.html) To most people, a candle stick is an item fit to decorate the dining table, but I could hardly imagine this collection of objects being elevated any more than they manage to do themselves. These Holy Candlesticks by Anki Gneib are best positioned firmly on the floor to avoid singed ceilings and disproportionate decor. The eccentric pieces play with the traditional modeling of [ornamental candle holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woaw-collection-by-nader-gamma) and come complete with elaborate silhouettes. On a monumental scale, they celebrate the gift of [candlelight](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infra-luna-20) on cold Scandinavian nights with the use of [local wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp) and the region's popular color scheme of black and burnt orange. Many of the photos depict the Holy Candlesticks by Anki Gneib amidst the forest landscape of Ostrobothnia. As 'Silent Cargo,' their unpainted profiles interact with whole solid tree trunks like the ones that compose them. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 9% | Activity: 15% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Monumental Candle Holders:** Creating oversized, elaborate candle holders that serve as monuments, disrupting traditional decorative pieces. - **Playful Design:** Incorporating eccentric shapes and elaborate silhouettes in candle holder design, bringing a playful twist to traditional objects. - **Local and Natural Materials:** Using local wood and regional color schemes in candle holder design, showcasing the beauty and sustainability of locally sourced materials. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** Creating a new market for oversized, artistic candle holders that can serve as statement pieces in home decor. - **Art and Sculpture:** Merging art and functionality with monumental candle holder designs, providing opportunities for artists to explore new mediums. - **Interior Design:** Introducing playful and unconventional candle holders into interior design, allowing designers to create unique and memorable spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Architectural Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/core-candle-holder.md) - [Ritual Sculptural Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alma-mater.md) - [Interestingly Shaped Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poise-candle-holder.md) - [Stacked Candle Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/candl-stacks.md) - [Striking Sculptural Candles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculpture-candle.md) - [Stone Cube Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qub-candlestick.md) - [Adorable Bee-Inspired Candlesticks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beeinspired-candlesticks.md) - [Beeswax Sculptural Candles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/greentree.md) - [Tear Canister Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/majdulin-nasrallah.md)
