# Holographic Projection Tables FORUM8's Holographic Display Brings 3D-Printed Objects to Life By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2016-04-05 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holographic-display References: [3ders.org](http://www.3ders.org/articles/20160404-forum8-develops-holographic-projection-mapping-display-for-3d-printed-models.html) & [forum8.co.jp](http://www.forum8.co.jp/) 3D printing and projection mapping technology collide in this new [holographic display](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-perfume-shop-holographic-technology) project from Japanese company FORUM8. The 'Projection Mapping Table' is a device that applies image or video projections to [3D-printed objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/4k-uhd-laser-projector) in order to bring them to life. The system uses a [360-degree projection mapping system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xr10-laser), which means that the object displayed on the table can be viewed from any angle without disruption to the projection. Around an object, there are also spaces for a contrasting background to be added to further enhance the visual experience. FORUM8’s 3D Projection Mapping Table has the potential to be used in a number of drastically different settings, from reviewing preliminary designs to showcasing products and advertisements in public places. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.8/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **3D Printing-projection Integration:** The integration of 3D printing and projection mapping technology offers new opportunities for creating immersive visual experiences and bringing objects to life. - **360-degree Projection Mapping:** The use of 360-degree projection mapping allows for seamless viewing of projected objects from any angle, opening up possibilities for interactive displays and enhanced visual experiences. - **Augmented Reality Advertising:** FORUM8's holographic display technology could disrupt traditional advertising methods by enabling the creation of dynamic and engaging augmented reality advertisements in public spaces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Design and Architecture:** The Projection Mapping Table has the potential to revolutionize the design and architectural industries by providing a new way to visualize and present 3D models and designs. - **Entertainment and Events:** The integration of 3D printing and projection mapping opens up exciting possibilities for interactive and immersive entertainment experiences, such as interactive exhibits, theme park attractions, and live performances. - **Advertising and Marketing:** The holographic display technology could disrupt the advertising and marketing industry by enabling the creation of eye-catching augmented reality advertisements that engage and captivate audiences in public spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Meeting-Enhanced 3D Holograms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holobox.md) - [Full-Body Hologram Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portl-epic.md) - [Portable Holographic Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/looking-glass-go.md) - [HDMI-Supported Holographic Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hypervsn-smartv.md) - [Free-Floating Holographic Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/looking-glass-gen2.md) - [Panoramic Holographic Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holo-panorama-x.md) - [Immersive Holographic Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-holographic-projector.md) - [Cardboard-Made Holographic Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-holographic-display.md) - [Colossal Holographic Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colossal-holographic-display.md)
