# Holographic Holocaust Testimonies History Comes Alive with 3D Projections of Holocaust Survivors By Andrew Sztein | Published 2013-02-08 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holocaust-testimonies References: [mashable](http://mashable.com/2013/02/05/holocaust-hologram-project/) & [ict.usc.edu](http://ict.usc.edu/prototypes/new-dimensions-in-testimony/) One of the most trying and important responsibilities of a concentration camp survivor is to make sure history isn’t forgotten through holocaust testimonies. Unfortunately, an entire generation of holocaust survivors is aging and dying of old age, which used to mean that their tales would be lost to the sands of time. A fascinating project from the [University of Southern California’s Shoah Foundation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/family-memories) is [holographically capturing holocaust testimonies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/imagix) from real survivors, of which there are thought to only be around 500,000 left in the world. The testimonies can then be projected for viewers to not only educate, but [forever preserve the emotion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/remembermeai) and human touch of one of history’s darkest moments. The ‘New Dimensions in Testimony’ project has been in the works for roughly 18 months and the end goal is to have the 3D projections available world-wide in museums and memorials. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 17% | Activity: 34% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Science](https://www.trendhunter.com/science) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Holographic Testimonies:** Using holographic technology to capture and project testimonies offers an immersive and emotional way to preserve history. - **Preserving Human Emotion:** The use of holographic projections allows the preservation of the emotional impact of personal testimonies for future generations. - **Virtual Education:** Virtual reality technologies can revolutionize educational experiences by bringing historical events and personal stories to life. ### Where This Applies - **Education:** The education industry has the opportunity to incorporate holographic testimonies as a powerful tool for teaching history. - **Museum and Exhibition:** Museums and exhibitions can embrace holographic technology to create immersive and interactive experiences for visitors. - **Memorial:** Memorials can use holographic projections to honor and connect future generations with the stories of survivors and the history they represent. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Interactive Hologram Tributes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-comic-con.md) - [Portable Holographic Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/looking-glass-go.md) - [Hyper-Realistic Holograms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solidlight.md) - [Immersive Holographic Zoos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hologram-zoo.md) - [Full-Body Hologram Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portl-epic.md) - [Free-Floating Holographic Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/looking-glass-gen2.md) - [Tech-Advanced Family Memories Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/family-memories.md) - [Immersive Holographic Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-holographic-projector.md) - [Real-Time Hologram Applications](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holoport.md)
