Thanks to an extensive restoration effort headed by original Back to the Future producer Bob Gale, the original car used in the films has been completely restored to its original 80s glory. The Hollywood time machine is now on display at [Universal Studios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yogurtland-and-back-to-the-future) in California. The extensive project took over a year to complete, as the workers stripped the original car down to its bare frame. Every light, prop and component was completely cleaned (in some cases replaced) to create a car worthy of the film series' time traveling legacy. Don't forget, 2015 is just around the corner and we still don't have hover boards from Back to the Future Part II: get on it guys! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Iconic Movie Props Restoration:** Opportunity to restore and display iconic movie props, like the DeLorean time machine, for nostalgic movie lovers and collectors. - **Preserving Film Legacy:** Restoration projects like the DeLorean time machine showcase the importance of preserving film history and the impact of iconic movie props. - **Nostalgic Pop Culture Exhibits:** Creating interactive exhibits of restored iconic movie props allows fans to relive the nostalgia of their favorite films and engage with pop culture history. ### Who This Affects Most - **Film Restoration:** Opportunity for film restoration companies to expand their services by restoring and displaying iconic movie props for museums, theme parks, and collectors. - **Museum and Theme Park Attractions:** The restoration and display of iconic movie props present an opportunity for museums and theme parks to create immersive, nostalgia-inducing attractions for visitors. - **Pop Culture Merchandising:** Restored iconic movie props can be leveraged by merchandising companies to create exclusive products that cater to the nostalgia-driven consumer market. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [80s-Inspired Electric Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delorean-e.md) - [Movie-Inspired Gullwing EVs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delorean-motor-company.md) - [Electric Gull-Winged Door Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delorean-alpha5.md) - [Retro Off-Road Electric Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delorean-concept.md) - [80s-Honoring Sports Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modeljzd.md) - [Retro-Futuristic Sports Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delorean-cyberpunk-concept.md) - [Retro Calculator Watches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ca500webf.md) - [Post-Apocalyptic Off-Road Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delorean-omega-2040-concept.md) - [Global Guitar Searches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gibson-x-michael-j-fox.md)
