The formidable [black brick exterior](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-eades) is scattered with windows in what appears to be a haphazard way. This design feature brightens up the entire exterior, turning what could have been a somber design into something fun and cheerful. Located in Béthune, France, Hollande by FRES Architects is surrounded by an area with a look dating back to the '70s. This building system updates the area while providing a haven for those who live within. With [warm wood accents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/houses-on-rue-de-clermont), the social housing provides a contemporary presence that could inspire the rest of the neighborhood to undergo a facelift. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 22% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Dynamic Housing Design:** The scattered window structures in Hollande by FRES Architects showcase a trend in dynamic and aesthetically pleasing housing design. - **Transformation of Monotonous Living:** The use of scattered windows in social housing projects like Hollande by FRES Architects disrupts the traditional monotonous living situation, creating a fun and cheerful environment. - **Contemporary Neighborhood Revitalization:** The warm wood accents in Hollande by FRES Architects' social housing project can inspire other neighborhoods to undergo a facelift, leading to a trend of contemporary neighborhood revitalization. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** The scattered window structures in housing design present an opportunity for architects to explore new approaches to building exteriors and create visually appealing structures. - **Construction:** The transformation of monotonous living through the use of scattered windows in social housing projects requires innovative construction methods to implement these design features effectively. - **Urban Planning:** The contemporary neighborhood revitalization seen in Hollande by FRES Architects' social housing project highlights the need for urban planners to incorporate modern design elements in revitalization efforts to create vibrant, livable communities. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Social Housing Unit Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/54-social-housing.md) - [Steel-Cladded Social Housing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/social-housing-1.md) - [Alternative Housing Co-Living Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bay-state-cohousing.md) - [Welcoming Prefabricated Student Housing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ignacio-prego-architectures.md) - [Colorful Social Housing Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/van-sinderen-plaza.md) - [Red Brick Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miller-apartment-building.md) - [Housing Block Defensive Facades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bureau-des-mesarchitecture.md) - [Glass‑brick Belgian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-brick-house.md) - [Triangular Social Housing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lady-raval.md)
