# Hidden City Furniture The Holland Table by Joost Wever Has a Unique Underbelly By Meghan Young | Published 2010-11-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holland-table References: [joostwever](http://www.joostwever.com/) The Holland table holds a little surprise for the owner. Although it may look like a [typical wooden table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tidone), underneath lies a [hidden city](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/topographic-coffee-table) -- Holland, to be exact. Designed by Joost Wever, the Holland table is the direct result of using [leftover pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/duk-series) accumulated throughout the creation process. Instead of gluing them on haphazardly, however, Wever created a landscape that makes this table extra special. Overall, the table itself is magnificent even without its unique underbelly. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 83% | Activity: 88% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Upcycled Furniture:** Creating furniture from leftover materials presents opportunities for unique and sustainable designs. - **Hidden Features:** Adding hidden elements to furniture offers a sense of surprise and intrigue. - **Interactive Design:** Designing furniture with interactive elements provides users with engaging and immersive experiences. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can explore upcycling techniques to create innovative and eco-friendly designs. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate furniture with hidden features to add a touch of mystery and novelty to spaces. - **Interactive Home Decor:** The interactive design trend can be applied to other home decor products, such as lighting fixtures and wall art, to create interactive and immersive experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Sculptural Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-transformation-table.md) - [Lake-Sourced Minimal Wooden Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intersection-table.md) - [Island-Inspired Wooden Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/island-table.md) - [Herringbone-Inspired Wooden Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/herringbone-table.md) - [Fluid Topographic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-table.md) - [Geometrically Informed Outdoor Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-table1.md) - [Undulating Fabric-Topped Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/groove-table-concept.md) - [Folding Scandinavian Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lounge-table.md) - [Coastline-Inspired Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marea-low-table.md)
