# Tablet-Like Mood Lighting The Holi Lamp is Powered by a Smartphone By Meghan Young | Published 2014-01-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holi-lamp References: [psfk](http://www.psfk.com/2014/01/color-changing-lamp.html) & [holimotion](http://www.holimotion.com/) The Holi Lamp may look like an [iPad](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/henri-matisse-x-casetify) and for good reason, it is meant to be powered and controlled by a smartphone. And with that comes an uncomplicated system that helps provide the perfect [mood lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blow-lamp) for the home or even the office (if the owner has a private one, of course). With only three options at one's disposable, the Holi Lamp couldn't be easier to use. Designed by FiveFive, a design studio based in Lyon, France, the Holi Lamp allows people to "pick an ambient theme that controls the lights and colors automatically; program your own; or let the device [move along to some music](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/govee-table-lamp-2-pro-x-sound-by-jbl) that you [chose] on your iOS device," according to Psfk. The home will never be the same. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 25% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Smartphone-controlled Lighting:** The Holi Lamp shows a growing trend of smartphone-controlled lighting systems that offer convenience and customization options to users. - **Ambient Theme Selection:** The Holi Lamp highlights a trend towards ambient theme selection for lighting, which allows users to easily select a mood that suits their preferences and needs. - **Simplicity in Design:** The Holi Lamp reflects a trend towards simplicity in design and ease of use, where products are designed to be intuitive and uncomplicated for users. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Lighting:** The Holi Lamp presents an innovation opportunity for the home lighting industry to create more convenient and customizable lighting systems that are user-friendly and provide an enhanced experience for users. - **Office Lighting:** The Holi Lamp shows potential for office lighting providers to create personalized lighting options that help to improve mood and productivity in the workspace. - **Smartphone Accessories:** The Holi Lamp is a disruptive innovation opportunity for the smartphone accessories industry, as it presents a new product category for smartphone-controlled lighting systems that cater to the customization and convenience needs of users. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sensory Relaxation Smart Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/idiya-smart-lamp.md) - [Retro App-Controlled Lava Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/appcontrolled-lava-lamp.md) - [Organically Shaped Smart Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flourish-table-lamp.md) - [Ambient Aesthetically Pleasing Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pofu.md) - [Chic Battery-Powered Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-table-lamp.md) - [Connected Light-Casting Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/govee-lyra-floor-lamp.md) - [Tubular Tech-Packed Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/govee-glow.md) - [Customizable Hexagonal Desk Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cololight-plus-hexagon-light-kit.md) - [Colourful Ambient Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ambient-lamp-design.md)
