As the crown jewel of a multipurpose sports and entertainment venue in downtown Arlington, the new stadium is set to include the most cutting edge technology and features available for sports stadiums. One of the key aspects of HKS Architects' design will be a retractable roof. While many stadiums with retractable roofs employ the feature to keep out the cold and precipitation, the Texas Rangers' ballpark's roof does the opposite. Baseball is a summer sport, and summers in Texas are sweltering; the retractable roof will offer tens of thousands of fans some respite from the sun. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/sports) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Multipurpose Stadiums:** Designing stadiums with multipurpose capabilities presents an opportunity for greater utilization and revenue generation. - **Cutting Edge Technology:** Incorporating advanced technology into sports stadiums enhances the fan experience and offers new revenue streams. - **Retractable Roofs:** Utilizing retractable roofs in stadiums allows for weather control and ensures optimal conditions for events. ### Who This Affects Most - **Sports:** The sports industry can benefit from innovative stadium designs that cater to multiple events and attract larger audiences. - **Architecture:** The architecture industry has the opportunity to create cutting edge stadium designs that incorporate advanced technology and unique features. - **Technology:** Technology companies can collaborate with stadium developers to integrate state-of-the-art tech solutions into sports and entertainment venues. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stadium-Based Theatre Venues](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sofi-stadium.md) - [Industrial Landmark Stadiums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/powerhouse.md) - [Hybrid Football Stadium Housing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tammela-stadium.md) - [Large Sports Complexes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/greater-bay-area-sports-centre.md) - [Fan‑inspired Arenas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kunshan-olympic-sports-centre.md) - [Adaptive Olympic Stadiums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brisbane-olympic-stadium.md) - [Architectural Sports Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xian-international-football.md) - [Curved Stadium Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xian-international-football-centre.md) - [Largest American Soccer Stadiums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/populous-1.md)
