The home, located in Utrecht, the Netherlands, also has an air of elegance and style. The designer says the home is a place where “history meets the present day” and it is “situated just a stone’s throw away from the centre of the city of Utrecht. The seventeenth-century property which houses a [home and an office](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perron) has been brought right up to date while retaining the building’s historical features.” In the home there is a great sense of spaciousness especially in the hallways, living room, office and bathroom. The staircase is beautiful and rests beside a large window that offers natural light and a nice view. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 19% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Historic Homes Renovation:** Redesigning historic homes to contemporary standards without losing their originality. - **Blend of Old and New:** Incorporating old-world charm into modern designs. - **Preservation and Innovation:** Preservation of historic architecture with modern innovative designs. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Interior designers and decorators specializing in historic home renovation and modern design. - **Architecture:** Architects specializing in the renovation of historic properties while integrating modern elements. - **Real Estate:** Real estate professionals can market historic homes as renovated properties that blend old and new. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Colorfully Transformed Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slatuinenweg.md) - [Hotel-Inspired Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amsterdam-zuid.md) - [Minimalist Townhouse Renos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/townhouse-vi.md) - [Restored Urban Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/west-84th-street-brownstone.md) - [Renovated Canal-Side Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/strandgade.md) - [Renovated Historic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/danil.md) - [House Renovation Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hearth-house.md) - [Plant-Filled Home Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-c.md) - [Renovated Rural Farmhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-place-in-the-country.md)
