# Hilarious Dog Costumes (UPDATE) Dress Up Your Doggy as Shrek or Darth Vader By Jacqueline Parrish | Published 2009-10-05 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hilarious-dog-halloween-costumes References: [ebaumnation](http://ebaumnation.com/2009/09/29/funny-dog-costumes-23) & [costumecraze](http://www.costumecraze.com/dog-costumes.html) With the sorts of grooming, pampering, costumes and general harassment -which we mistake for loving care- that we inflict upon our animals, most pet owners welcome October with open arms, amped up and ready to search out hilarious dog Halloween costumes with which to further torture their animals. The hilarious dog Halloween costumes that are available certainly do not classify as scary, but they do classify as cute (even when the dog is so clearly dissatisfied with having to don the outfit). My personal favorites are the basset hound with a fake knife through its head, the Darth Vader pug and the [alligator attire](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snackstume). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.8/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 100% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Bizarre](https://www.trendhunter.com/bizarre) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Hilarious Dog Costumes:** Opportunity for companies to create innovative and humorous costumes for dogs during Halloween. ### Where This Applies - **Pet Industry:** Potential for pet stores and online retailers to offer a wide range of dog costumes to meet the growing consumer demand. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Expansive Halloween Pet Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/petco-bootique.md) - [Halloween-Themed Pet Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halloweenthemed-pet.md) - [Holiday-Centric Pet Outfits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/petsmart-2.md) - [Wine-Themed Pet Costumes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/franzia-wines-x-bark.md) - [Spooky Charming Pet Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crown-paw.md) - [Halloween-Themed Pet Product Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/petsmart-thrills-chills.md) - [Halloween-Themed Pet Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/petsmart3.md) - [Halloween-Ready Animatronic Line-Ups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halloween-animatronics.md) - [Smiling Sponge Costumes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scrub-daddy-costume.md)
