# High-Speed Droplet Photography 10 Liquid Sculptures By Pearl | Published 2008-10-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/high-speed-droplet-photography-liquid-sculpture References: [inventorspot](http://inventorspot.com/articles/liquid_sculptures_18389) & [liquidsculpture](http://www.liquidsculpture.com/) Martin Waugh's exceptional [high-speed photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/life-minute-photos) of falling [water droplets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aqua-gallery) made choosing the 10 images here extremely difficult. He achieves these amazing shots by varying not just the size, speed and position of the drops but also the color, viscosity and surface tension of the liquids to create his original [liquid sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/water-sculpture-lj). Capturing the droplets in motion requires accurate timing and release on his digital camera equipped with flash. He does use Photoshop to clean up the backgrounds and balance the colors, but other than that, the shapes and composition are true to life. The leg-shaped droplet, while not strictly a gravity-generated image, is still a clever manipulation of the water droplet! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 87% | Activity: 64% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **High-speed Photography:** The trend of high-speed photography enables the capture of dynamic and fast-moving subjects with incredible detail and precision. - **Liquid Sculptures:** The trend of creating liquid sculptures through the manipulation of droplets offers an innovative and visually stunning form of art. - **Digital Camera Equipped with Flash:** The trend of using digital cameras equipped with flash for high-speed photography allows for the capture of fast-moving subjects with clarity and accuracy. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Photography:** The photography industry can leverage high-speed photography to offer unique and captivating images for various purposes, such as advertising, art, and scientific research. - **Art:** The art industry can explore the creation and exhibition of liquid sculptures as a form of innovative and visually striking artwork. - **Technology:** The technology industry can develop and improve digital cameras equipped with flash to enhance the capabilities of high-speed photography and cater to the growing demand for this form of imaging. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mesmerizing Fluid Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flow-fountain.md) - [Liquid Droplet DIY Watches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/droplet-watch.md) - [Fluid Function Art Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-flow.md) - [Fluid Basketball-Net Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swimming-pools-and-bubblegum.md) - [Sculptural Titanium Watches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mp17-meca10.md) - [Blurry Abstract Photography Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-allusion.md) - [Interactive Kinetic Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-kinetic-sculptures.md) - [Motion Liquid Art Distortions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lidris.md) - [Optical Illusion Humidifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/serena-antigravity-humidifier.md)
