What sets this doorknob apart from other [designer doorknobs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edge-door-handle) is that it allows you to catch a glimpse of the other side of the room before opening the door. The coolest thing about this is its simplicity because there is no trickery or hidden camera involved. Instead, the [glass knob](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-glass-collection) is cleverly designed to reflect the room you’re about to enter, giving it a crystal ball effect. Currently, the doorknob is on display at lifestyle-themed store, Plain People in Tokyo. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 72% | Activity: 79% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Transparent Doorknobs:** Opportunity for manufacturers to innovate by creating transparent doorknobs that offer a glimpse of the other side before opening. - **Interactive Interior Design:** Designers can explore ways to incorporate interactive elements, like the glass doorknob, into interior spaces for a unique and engaging experience. - **Simplicity in Design:** The trend towards simplicity in design can inspire manufacturers to create functional yet visually appealing products, like the glass globe doorknob. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Interior design professionals can incorporate innovative doorknob designs into their projects, adding an element of surprise and interactivity. - **Home Decor:** Manufacturers and retailers in the home decor industry can offer unique and visually striking doorknobs as a way to enhance the overall aesthetic of a space. - **Product Design:** Opportunity for product designers to create innovative and visually captivating doorknobs that provide a distinctive user experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [3D-Printed Door Gear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ross-lovegroves-door-handles.md) - [Illusory Snow Globe Decorations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/invisible-snow-globe.md) - [Optical Illusion Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hooptical.md) - [Quad-Access Connected Doorknobs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tcl-k1.md) - [Bold Wooden Hardware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wide-guy-door-pull.md) - [Illusory Doorway Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/panis-mirror.md) - [Interior Push-Pull Door Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anylock-milda.md) - [Otherworldly Lighting Fixture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otherworldly-lighting-fixture.md) - [Touch-Enhanced Glass Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bolita.md)
