In an effort to one day be able to create its own batteries, [Tesla](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/energydense-lithium-batteries) purchased a company named Hibar Systems that specializes in battery technology. Hibar Systems is a company located in Canada that works in [automated battery manufacturing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/battery-factory1) for a number of different products, one of which is for electric vehicles. Tesla did not indicate as to when the purchase took place, but first listed Hibar Systems as a subsidiary on October 2nd.

Tesla also previously purchased Maxwell, which was a California-based company that worked on [lithium-ion technology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/power-solutions-for-ai-data-center).
