# Multifarious Foyer Furnishings The Hi Bench Provides a Seat and Plenty of Spaces For Stashing By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-02-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hi-bench References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2014/02/10/gear-up-and-go/) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Hi-Bench/14284413) If each piece of furniture at your front door was responsible for attending to a single purpose, you could easily end up with half a dozen different objects. The Hi Bench was designed to consolidate foyer functionality within a clever compact form. Made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) material, this item offers physical support and the means to store all sorts of different possessions. Bridget Sheehan's design takes a boxy shape with a base, a side wall, a flat top and a couple of shelves inside. An open rectangle makes an ideal umbrella stand and an indentation in the upper surface serves as great spot to place small things like your wallet, your keys and your phone. Three cubbies make mats and ledges for tucking your shoes and boots away, plus you can easily put them back on by treating the Hi Bench as a stool. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 89% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Consolidated Foyer Furniture:** Designing furniture that combines multiple functions into one compact form creates innovative solutions for organizing small spaces. - **Storage-focused Design:** Designing furniture pieces with built-in storage compartments allows for efficient organization and clutter-free living. - **Multi-purpose Seating:** Creating seating options that also serve as storage solutions opens up possibilities for versatile and space-saving furniture designs. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Companies in the furniture manufacturing industry can explore the development of multifunctional furniture designs to meet the needs of space-conscious consumers. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate furniture with built-in storage compartments to help clients optimize space in their homes or offices. - **Home Organization:** Companies specializing in home organization products can expand their offerings by developing furniture pieces with integrated storage solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dual-Sided Storage Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bond-stool-system.md) - [Entryway Deodorizing Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comodo.md) - [Transforming Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/split-1.md) - [Stylish Multi-Use Entryway Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/entryway-shoe-rack.md) - [Leather Strap Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stacked-bench.md) - [Dual-Function Seating Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rubik-stool.md) - [Minimal Shoe Rack Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tokyo-shoe-rack.md) - [Contemporary Upcycled Bright Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/remix-maison-1.md) - [Ultra-Simple Multifunctional Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chairpf.md)
