# Chic Twisting Shelves The Helix Magazine Rack Flaunts the Beauty of its Bent Wood Body By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-07-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/helix-magazine-rack References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Helix/2424272) I could not think of a better way to dress up one's collection of trashy mags than with the [Helix](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-helix-2) Magazine Rack. This exquisite piece of polished wooden furniture might even have the power to improve the appearance of an entire room. Milos Todorovic's elegant sculptural concept is carefully crafted from [flat plywood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hayashi-cabinet) that expresses a richly textured wood grain pattern. Thin leaves of it have been arranged in the metal grate-like base that becomes the steady footing of the slender [spinning storage system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-spinning-coffee-table). Torsion is then applied to the panels at an axis of 90 degrees. As such, the Helix Magazine Rack can simultaneously face the entire room when placed in a corner, posing like the fashion models found in its stashed publications. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 41% | Activity: 39% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Elegant Wooden Furniture:** The trend of using carefully crafted flat plywood with richly textured wood grain patterns to create elegant wooden furniture. - **Sculptural Concepts:** The trend of incorporating sculptural elements into furniture design, creating pieces that are not only functional but also visually appealing. - **Spinning Storage Systems:** The trend of using rotating mechanisms to create efficient and versatile storage solutions. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Innovative techniques and materials used in creating elegant wooden furniture offer disruptive innovation opportunities for the furniture manufacturing industry. - **Interior Design:** Furniture with sculptural concepts provides new opportunities for interior designers to create unique and visually striking spaces. - **Home Organization:** Spinning storage systems present disruptive innovation opportunities for companies in the home organization industry, offering efficient and stylish solutions for keeping spaces tidy. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tubular Literature Storage Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interspace-magazine-rack.md) - [Twisting CGI-Designed Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookscrew-sideboard.md) - [Harmonious Helical Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vortex-coffee-table.md) - [Twisting Donut-Shaped Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hullabaloo-bookshelf.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Metal Sheet Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twist-side-table.md) - [Twisted Wooden Boxed Sideboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deniz-aktay.md) - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Playful Rotating Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giralot-rotating-storage.md)
