These sketchings by Brussels-based artist Hélène Jeudy offer a bizarre representation of the balance between the everyday and [tormented](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/junji-ito-artwork). While some of the illustrations may appear as if they were drawn by amateur hands, a close inspection will reveal these to be the work of a skilled artist whose animations infuse the familiar and everyday with notions of torture and anguish.

Make no mistake, none of these images offer a comforting glimpse of homely reassurance. Gazing at this set of illustrations one learns to distrust any sense of repose that may be represented. Fluctuating between the [demonic and the domesticate](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anima), these pictures blend two (supposedly) conflicting realms in order to create an environment that is at once both [recognizable and terrifying](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apartment-with-a-lizard).
