The [US Army](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electrooptical-intelligentsensing-systems) has shown the weapon to be able to successfully lock onto and take out targets in laser-unfriendly conditions involving fog and rain. The HEL MD is a trailblazing mobile, high-energy laser. It consists of a 10-kilowatt high-energy laser mounted on an Oshkosh tactical vehicle, and capable of tracking and obliterating a wide variety of targets. [Boeing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/military-helicopter) has unsurprisingly not revealed too many details about this military war monster, but it is believed that it likely uses a reference beam to probe through the fog, before focusing a separate weapon beam onto the target. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 21% | Activity: 39% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Futuristic Laser Weapons:** The rise of high-energy lasers that can overcome environmental obstacles like fog and rain presents opportunities for disruptive innovations in military technology. - **Weatherproof Military Technology:** The development of weapons like the HEL MD that can operate effectively in adverse weather conditions opens up possibilities for disruptive advancements in weatherproof military equipment. - **Mobile Laser Systems:** The integration of high-energy lasers onto mobile platforms such as the Oshkosh tactical vehicle paves the way for disruptive innovations in agile and flexible laser weapon systems. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Defense and Military:** The defense industry can seize disruptive innovation opportunities by investing in the development of advanced laser-based weapons and weatherproof military technology. - **Aerospace and Aviation:** The aerospace industry can explore disruptive innovation opportunities by integrating high-energy lasers into aircraft systems for improved air defense capabilities in adverse weather conditions. - **Research and Development:** The research and development sector can play a vital role in driving disruptive innovations by exploring new techniques and technologies to enhance the performance of laser weapons and weatherproof military equipment. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Long-Range Laser Flashlights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lumitwin-dl700.md) - [Range-Roving Sniper Scopes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sniper-scope.md) - [Laser-Powered Mosquito Zappers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/photon-matrix.md) - [Heavy-Duty Hybrid Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybrid-drones.md) - [Augmented Helicopter Helmet Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/helmet-display.md) - [Crowdfunded EDC Flashlights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lazsaber-ls1.md) - [Missile-Fooling Aircraft Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antiradar-system.md) - [Tiny Animated Laser Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laserabc-laser-show-projector.md) - [Digital Laser-Powered Blaster Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laser-tag-set.md)
